Help the Seals, thank the Russian Federation

Recently, the Russian Federation passed a historic ban on trade in harp seal fur -- the main product of the Canadian seal slaughter that begins in just weeks.

But the Canadian government is vowing to reverse the ban through diplomatic pressure. Please show your support and take a moment to thank the Russian government for this momentous achievement and ask them not to give into pressure and overturn this important ban!

Help Prevent Bird Death

Spring 2012 Bird Migration Has Begun!

As of March 12, 2012, the Fatal Light Awareness Program (FLAP) volunteers
encountered this season's first migratory bird casualty in the GTA:  an
American Woodcock. This brings FLAP's total recorded collisions to over
54,000 birds from 164 species.
To prevent this tragic loss of life, FLAP and the City of Toronto urge you
to practice the following:

*         Reflectivity control on your windows

*         Responsible light reduction
*         Extinguish all exterior decorative, promotional, flood, and spot
*         Educate your staff & tenants on ways they can help prevent bird
death at work and at home  .

Call us at 416 366-3527 or visit

BC Deer

On February 22, the Capital Regional District's (CRD) Planning, Transportation and Protective Services Committee passed the Regional Deer Management Strategy Terms of Reference unamended. We belive that, as a result, culling the CRD deer is a near certainty.

And on February 24, the injunction residents won in Invermere to halt the area's deer cull was overturned by the BC Supreme Court. The cull is underway.

We are ramping up our campaigning.
